Pitars is a very interesting and forward thinking estate in Friuli in Italy's North-East. The emphasis is on sustainable viticulture and their headquarters, completed in 2007, is still today the largest green building in Friuli Venezia Giulia: no cement, only wood and totally recyclable materials and maximum energy efficiency.
 
The wine has a deep purplish colour and with a full fragrant bouquet of raspberry, blackberry and blueberry. Dry and full bodied with aromatic herbal overtones. Ages well.
Good with hearty red meat dishes and hard cheeses.
