We have been buying from Domaine Benoit Chauveau at Saint-Andelain in the heart of the Pouilly-Fumé region for many years. With the 2022 vintage, as well as his excellent Pouilly-Fumé La Charmette, we are now able to offer his Côteaux du Giennois from vineyards a little further north along the Loire. Here the soil is very similar to that at Pouilly-Fumé, being mostly flinty chalk.
Like several other estates whose wines we sell, the domaine is a member of the Terra Vitis group of winemakers whose winemaking methods are best described as "almost organic". They employ a proactive environmentally friendly approach and only use intervention if absolutely necessary. All Terra Vitis certified wine estates are granted HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) Level 3 certification by the French government.
