Jules's Pinot Gris is fully dry with a hint of butterscotch on the nose and palate. The aromaticity is not overpowering making it a great companion to many fish dishes, white meats and washed-rind cheeses. This is drinking well but has the structure to continue to mature for another year or so.

Having reached the position of head winemaker for one of Marlborough's largest commercial wineries, Jules Taylor & her husband George decided to go it alone in 2001. Since then her wines have won numerous accolades. In 2013 Jules was awarded New Zealand Wine Producer of the Year at the International Wine & Spirit Competition and recently she won Gourmet Wine Traveller Winemaker of the Year 2021. We have been buying her wines since 2011 and they continue to go from strength to strength.

Jules' vineyards are on the granite-based soils of the higher areas of the Marlborough district where resulting wines have balance and structure (unlike the lower alluvial soils which give the much more blatantly gooseberry character of so many NZ Sauvignon Blancs). Though always attractive from the outset, all the wines in the range, and in particular Jules' Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, have the ability to mature well.
